Imtiaz Performing at Bangla Music Festival

Imtiaz Ahmed has been performing since a tender age of 5. He was born in a musical family and his initial musical training started with his father Dr Mafizuddin Ahmed. He learnt classical music from Ustad Mozammel Hussain and Pandit Hari Das Ganguli. Imtiaz started learning Tagore songs from renowned Tagore exponents Wahidul Haque, Sanjida Khatun and Maya Sen. Throughout his early education Imtiaz was actively involved with cultural activities and was one of the founders of a student’s music forum ‘Nandan’. He was also an active member of ‘Jatiya Rabindra Sangeet Sammilon Parishad’ and ‘Anandadhwani’. During his final year as a medical student he directed and published an ensemble of patriotic songs called ‘Chetonar Saikate’. His melodious voice and thoughtful presentation made him one of the acclaimed Tagore singers in Bangladesh.

After completing his medical studies, Imtiaz moved to London and started his career as a Consultant Oncologist. Despite a busy schedule, Imtiaz started performing all over the UK and joined Satyen Sen School of performing arts as a teacher of Tagore’s music. Beside these, Imtiaz started his own organisation Anandadhara Arts which is dedicated to teaching music to local children as well as adults. Anandadhara Arts also organises world class concerts in London. At the moment the institution has over 40 students and runs regular classes in London.

Over the years Anandadhara has organised several concerts with world famous musicians such as Ustad Rashid Khan and continuing to organise more pure classical concerts in the years to come. Students of Anandadhara are also invited to perform for other renowned organisers in London.

Imtiaz has four solo albums of Tagore’s songs. ‘Morey Barey Barey Phiraley’ and ‘Adhora Madhurir Chondobandhan’ both published from Kolkata in 2002 and 2010 respectively. ‘Hridoy Amar Prokash Holo’ and ‘Nribhrito Praner Gaan’ has been released in Dhaka in 2015 and 2017 respectively. His albums have been well appreciated by Tagore lovers across the world.

Imtiaz performs regularly not only in London but also all over the world including Bangladesh and India.
